The contractor for the Little Otter Creek Reservoir project will soon begin the preliminary work needed for the construction of the dam that is expected to provide 1.25 million gallons of drinking water per day. Caldwell County Commissioner Bud Motsinger says the contractor is Phillips Hardy, Incorporated of Booneville, and they will begin the work as early as this March.
The time for construction is expected to be three years but will depend on the weather. When the construction is complete, because the reservoir will depend on runoff to fill, it could take a couple of years to fill.
