Child Endangerment & Animal Neglect Investigations

Chillicothe Police Officers were busy Thursday and Friday.  The department responded to three noninjury accidents Thursday.

10:18 am, Officer out in the 1300 block of Monroe Street in reference to controlled substance violation.  Officers seized methamphetamines and arrested a 42-year-old man for possession of a controlled substance.  He was processed and transported to the Daviess/DeKalb Regional Jail

On 02/09/2022, Officers took a report from a citizen of concerns of animal abuse and neglect in the 1000 block of Elm Street.  As a result, officers arrested three women.  After further investigation Officers and Detectives received a Search Warrant for the residence.  During the search, officers seized 7 dogs and two cats which appeared to be malnourished, seized a firearm, and discovered the home to be in disarray and terrible living conditions, especially for a child.  Officers then contacted Livingston County Children’s Division, who took custody of a girl for safety.  A 21-year-old woman, a 24-year-old woman, and a 43-year-old woman were arrested and transported to the Daviess/DeKalb Regional Jail pending charges of animal abuse and neglect and child endangerment.  The investigation continues.
