Offense Rediscovered in Girls’ Soccer’s 8-0 Drumming of Cameron

In a game that was covered on KCHI, the Lady Hornets soccer club looked to end a 2-game scoreless skid when the Dragons of Cameron High came to town Monday night.

Coach Jimmy Chapman said that he wanted to see his team build off of a strong second half in the Maryville game.  Mentioning that he wanted to see the offense trust the wings while creating some offense on the attack.

Sophomore, Hadley Beemer was in goal for her first start of the year.

The scoring got started early when Delanie Kieffer headed home her 5th goal of the year on a corner kick from Lucy Reeter in the 8th minute.

A minute later, Juliann Gabrielson made it a 2-0 game when she netted her 10th goal of the year on a beautiful cross pass from Rylee Washburn.

Lucy Reeter got her first goal of the game in the 25th minute after taking a pass from Gabrielson.

Then, seconds before halftime, Sophia Luetticke lined up a direct kick from 15 yards out and just to the right of the goal to give the Lady Hornets a 4-0 lead.

Lucy Reeter wasted little time getting scoring started in the second half. She was assisted by Kieffer in making it a 5-0 game in the 43rd minute.

The Lady Hornet’s offense was relentless, five minutes later Kieffer added her second goal of the game at 6th of the year in an unassisted effort to give Chillicothe a 6-goal advantage.

In the 61st, Kieffer took the feed from a Lucy Reeter corner kick and completed a hat trick to make it 7-0!

Hailee William’s had a goal in the 67th minute that ricocheted off Cameron’s keeper, Lockridge, and that was the final blow that Chillicothe needed to slay the Lady Dragons.

Beemer collects her first shutout of her career on three saves.

The Lady Hornets victorious via the slaughter rule, 8-0, over Cameron High School.

Coach Chapman spoke on the offense’s improvements last night, “They (the team’s wings) were really active tonight; they had a lot of crosses. We had a goal and an assist from a wing tonight, so that’s always good.  They were open all night and we were looking for them”.

The Lady Hornets will be back in action when they visit Mid-Buchanan on Thursday at 5pm.
