Third-Seeded Chillicothe Keeps Pace in Benton Tourney, Takes 3rd

Boys tennis was in the Benton Tournament at NOYES park in St. Joseph.  As the tournament’s four seed the Hornets had to square off with Bishop LeBlond, Savannah and Trenton.

In the first pairing, Chillicothe matched up with the Eagles of Bishop LeBlond where they swept doubles play with a victory for Chace Corbin and Josh Adams, 8-3, and two forfeits that broke Chilli’s way, too.

Sophomore, Anthony Trantham won the decisive match against Bishop LeBlond 8-4 over Trey Icke.  The Hornets were victorious over Bishop LeBlond 4-1.

Then Chillicothe was then matched up with district leading Savannah.  Jadon Collins and Jackson Reeter were responsible for the lone Hornet win.  CHS would fall to Savannah 1-4 and move to the third place match against Trenton.

In that third place match, the Hornets swept singles play. That included an 8-1 win for Shayden Hawkins.

In doubles play, Chilli only dropped one of the three matches and would take the third place battle 4-1 over Trenton.

Boys tennis will compete in the Individual Districts in Trenton on May 5.
