Tractor Fire And Power Outage In Grundy County

A tractor striking a utility pole for high voltage lines resulted in a power outage and a tractor fire Wednesday evening.  The incident happened about 8:20 pm at a location on Pauper Road, north of Trenton.  Grundy County Rural Fire responded to the call, but could not approach the tractor due to downed power lines.

After the power company confirmed the power on the lines was turned off, the fire department used foam and water to put out the fire.  The tractor was a total loss.

The report states the tractor driver was planting in the field and caught the pole with an implement, breaking the 60-foot pole.  That caused a power line to come down and set the tractor on fire.  The driver was able to escape.  The fire crew was on the scene for four hours
