Heat Advisory Through Wednesday

A Heat Advisory is issued for the entire state of Missouri, with excessive heat warnings for St Louis and south along the Mississippi River.  The National Weather Service says for all of the KCHI listing area, a heat advisory is issued through Wednesday at 8:00 pm.

The Heat Advisory is due to temperatures in the upper 90’s, with heat index values up to 107 degrees.

The National Weather Service says this period of hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat-related illnesses to occur.

They recommend that you drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.

Keep yourself hydrated, and drink plenty of fluids – Health experts say that water is best.  Avoid alcoholic beverages as they can cause dehydration.
