Chillicothe Cross Country Sweeps The Spoofhound Invitational

The Chillicothe Hornets Cross Country team started the season off with a bang by sweeping the Spoofhound Invitational on Tuesday. Both Varsity girls and boys won the meet with the Varsity boys taking both the overall winner & runner up.

Medalists:
1st – Luke Thompson (Fr.) – 17:37
2nd – Cain Evans (So.) – 17:56
5th – Laik Graham (Jr.) – 18:18
13th – Clayton Savage (Sr.) – 19:20
6th – Lydia Gabrielson (Fr.) – 23:47
9th – Yoo Jung Lee (So.)- 23:52 –
11th – Juliann Gabrielson (Sr.) – 24:07
On the boys side Sophomore Alton Keller ran a 19:45 and Freshman Ben Brubaker ran a 19:48, both finishing just out of medal range for 16th and 17th positions.

Senior Kaylynn Cranmer ran a 25:07 and came in 18th place for the girls team. Freshman Glenna Barnett finished in 26:19 for 24th place in her first ever Cross country race.
Sophomore Carter Shipers took 1st place in the Boys JV Race (3k). Freshman Trace Akers took 3rd place.
For the middle school, Lake Englert won the boys race and Sophie Hurtgen won the girls race. This was an untimed, practice mile race, so there are not any official results other than that those 2 that came in first.
Head Coach Jennifer Dickson talked about how proud she was of her team after the meet.
“It was a great night and I just loved the energy these kids have. They have those characteristics you can’t coach up: heart, energy, spirit, pride, grit! They continue to impress me and I am beyond excited for this season!”
Hornets Cross Country is back in action on Tuesday, September 6th for the Hornet Invitational that will take place at Simpson Park at 4 pm.
