Lady Hornets Tennis Edges Out Benton 5-4

CHS Boys' Tennis Takes Season Opener From Marshall
The Chillicothe Lady Hornets Tennis team wrapped up four straight days of consecutive play with an important MEC win over the Benton Cardinals 5-4. This takes the team to 4-1 in the MEC with only two more conference contests left this season.
BeVelle and Pfaff opened with commanding doubles play, winning their match 8-0. Carpenter and Kieffer dropped an intense match 7-9, and Washburn and Garr dropped their doubles match 2-8.
The Hornets commandingly turned it around during Singles play.
Washburn and Crowe both won their matches 8-0. Kieffer won her match 8-1 while Garr won her match 8-2. BeVelle and Carpenter each battled hard in their singles matches, ultimately losing 7-9 and 5-8 respectively.
In JV play, the Lady Hornets tennis squad went undefeated on the night against the Benton Cardinals after every player got the chance to play two matches. Scores were as follows:
Crowe and Shira won 6-1
Pfaff and Morgan won 6-0
Boon and George won 6-0
Clark and Mathews won 6-0
England and Shafiq won 6-2
Mathews and Leppin won 6-1
Shira and Thomas won 6-0
Clark and Leppin won 6-2
England and Shafiq won 6-2
Morgan won 6-0
George won 6-2
Thomas won 6-0
Boon won 6-0
Next Monday, the Lady Hornets will host Bishop LeBlond for its Senior Night honoring Cami Carpenter and Madison Kieffer.
