Legislation to adopt July 7th as Sliced Bread Day in the State of Missouri took another step forward today (Wednesday), a Representative Rusty Black presented House Bill 78 for perfecting
Black gave a brief history of sliced bread and the effect it had on a local bakery.
The bill received support from Representatives around the state, including from Kansas City, who stated how BBQ goes so well with Sliced Bread.
Black told the House that being known as the home of Sliced Bread has brought tourist to Chillicothe and that means dollars for the local merchants and tax revenue both locally and at the state level.
One more vote is required in the House and the bill will then be taken up by the Senate and is sponsored by Senator Denny Hoskins.
