Wind and Hail are both dangerous if the situations are right and that is why they are part of Severe Weather Awareness week. Meteorologist Ryan Cutter says small hail can seem somewhat harmless, but as it increases in size and is blown around it can cause considerable damage.
Cutter says hail actually starts as a small piece of ice or snow that remains aloft.
Wind dangers increase as the speed picks-up.
For both hail and strong winds, Cutter says the best protection is inside a sturdy structure.
