The Northwest Missouri State University Men’s Basketball Team ended a perfect 38-0 season with a National Championship Title over the weekend.
The Bearcats beat Point Loma Nazarene University of San Diego, California 64-58 to become just the fifth program in the division to have an undefeated national championship.
The Bearcats lead was cut to 59-54 with 1:35 left in the game, but a deuce made the lead seven and two free throws by former Lafayette High School Star Diego Bernard with 12 seconds left made it a nine point lead.
Northwest was led by Joey Witthus with 24 points, Diego Bernard with 14 points and Trevor Hudgins with 12 points and six assists.
