Asbestos Abatement Complete At Old Steam Plant

Asbestos Abatement at the old CMU Steam Plant is complete.  CMU General Manager Jim Gillilan says they project took several months.

Gillilan says there was a considerable amount of asbestos in the building.

He says the abatement clears the way for demolition, but there are a few parts of the building or equipment they will try to salvage.

With the abatement complete, the Chillicothe Board of Public Works will consider bids for demolition at Monday’s meeting and once a  contractor is selected, they hope to see the demolition begin this summer and possibly be complete before the end of the year.
