Animal cruelty and neglect were investigated in Chula. Livingston County Sheriff Steve Cox says the investigation began May 14th. The report states they found one dead dog inside a kennel and it may have been killed by a second dog in the kennel.
Cox says there was no available food for the dog(s) except for a bag of unopened food laying inside the kennel. The kennel had not been cleaned and the only water available was a stagnant discolored puddle that had trash and other items floating in it.
The owner of the dogs was located and issued a summons for Animal Abuse and Animal Neglect. The 32-year-old woman was released pending court appearances.
The surviving dog was removed and is at a safe location. Investigation completed.
