Chillicothe Teachers will be able to attend conferences next year thanks to available budget money.
Dr Jill Watkins, High School Assistant Principal, says the district Professional Development Committee is receiving one-percent or about $60,000 of district funds.
Watkins says one of the requests received from teachers is being able to attend betterment conferences. She says the money will help pay the cost of attending the conference
Watkins says the application process includes approval from the teacher’s building administrator, then it must be approved b the Professional Development committee.
Teachers may request up to $600 per year, allowing one third of teachers to attend conferences.
The conference must focus on growth in a way that will impact student achievement and growth.
Watkins stressed that she will visit teachers in each building the first day of school to cover how to apply for the money.
