Commuting around western St Joseph is a little easier again with the
re-opening of the Interstate 229 Double Decker Bridge on Thursday afternoon.
Missouri Department of Transportation officials said crews were able to open the bridge along the Missouri River one day earlier than expected.
The bridge underwent maintenance, drain cleaning and pavement marking. It was closed for the work to ensure safety for workers and motorists.
Some ramps at the junction of I-229, US Route 36 and Route 759 remain closed due to another separate project.
