An area student has received a gold medal at a recent national conference.
Julian Hughes, a member of Chillicothe and Southwest Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, or FCCLA chapter placed second out of 25 participants in the Recycle and Redesign Occupational event at the recent National FCCLA Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California.
Hughes ranked 2nd out of the 25 participants across the country.
Hughes is a student at Grand River Technical School.
