The Chillicothe Hornets football team will face a new opponent in the upcoming season.
The schedule opening occurred earlier this year when Bishop LeBlond High School elected to change to 8-man football for the 2019 season.
That change left MEC teams scrambling to find another team to play after most schools had their schedules finalized.
Chillicothe Athletic Director Dan Nagel searched across Missouri but failed to find a team. Iowa was out due to their teams being in the play offs when Chillicothe needed to fill the date.
Nagel finally signed a contract to play the Wyandotte Bulldogs from Kansas City, Kansas. The game will be at Wyandotte High School on October 18th at 7:00pm. Nagel says the trip is shorter than driving to Maryville. He stated it is similar to driving to Savannah.
In 2018, the Wyandotte Bulldogs went 1-7 on the regular season, scoring 168 points and allowing 341 points.
The school is listed as having 1,177 students last year in grades 9th to 12th.
