US Route 65 Open – Update

For the first time in nearly three months, you can head south of the Missouri River from Chillicothe and Carrollton with out using a detour.
The Missouri Department of Transportation officially opened Route 65 south of Carrollton Wednesday afternoon.
The Highway had been closed due to flood waters over the road since May.
Crews cleared debris and prepared the roadway after flood water receded.
Despite the high water on the roadway for an extended period, the road surface only required minor repairs.
Only one route remains closed in Carroll County due to the effects of the spring flooding.
The Branch of Turkey Creek Bridge on Route C sustained what is being called “Significant Damage” that will need repair before the road can be opened. There is no water currently over the Route C roadway in Carroll County.
A bridge rehabilitation project on Route 65 continues on the southern edge of Highway 65 on the southern edge of Carrollton over Wakenda Creek. It will have daily lane closures and a 15 foot width restriction.
That project is expected to continue until the end of September.
