Car Problems for Sheriff’s Department

Car trouble happens to everyone at some point, and it can be frustrating. It even happens to law enforcement officials.
Livingston County Sheriff Steve Cox says his office has experienced quite a bit of trouble with vehicle breakdowns recently.
Cox says one patrol vehicle over-heated and was towed from the Daviess Dekalb Regional Jail to a local repair shop.
Another patrol vehicle broke down due to over-heating, was repaired, then used for a prisoner transport and overheated again. It was fixed a second time free of charge due to an apparent faulty part.
Sheriff Cox stated the department had two other patrol vehicles each have a ruined tire due to dangerous items in the road including large staples and nails.
Cox pointed out his department actively works on preventative maintenance on their vehicles in an attempt to avoid such problems.
He said some of the vehicles have more than 150,000 miles.
