The public hearing for the use of Capital Improvement Funds for the purchase of five police vehicles was held just before Monday’s Chillicothe City Council meeting. The City Auditor told the council and public the bids for the five cars are in and the low bid is for just over $36,864 per vehicle, or $184,323 for all five. City Administrator Darin Chappell says the local bid is the lowest.
The city is trading in three of the vehicles and keeping two to be used in other departments.
The city still needs to go out for bid on the equipment for the cars, but they expect to be below the $250,000 total for the purchase.
