The Chillicothe Lady Hornets Softball bats were on fire in an 18-8 season opening home win over Lawson.
Chillicothe scored 18 runs off 14 hits including four home runs in the game.
The Lady Hornets jumped to an 11-0 lead after three innings, thanks to a nine-run second.
Lawson scored twice in the fourth, both teams scored five in the fifth. Lawson scored one in the sixth and Chillicothe twice in the sixth.
At the plate, Abby Jones had two of the team’s four home runs along with a single and had five RBI.
Brooke Horton had a two RBI home run, and Mika Hibner had a home run and a single with two rbi.
Jordan Hibner had a double and two singles with three RBI, Kinlei Boley had a double and Sophia Luetticke had a triple and a single.
Others picking up singles were Kennedy Corzette and Mollie Ellis who also had two RBI.
At the plate Boley had the start, with Ellis and Halie Rucker also pitching. They combined to allow 9 hits with 5 K’s and 4 walks.
The Lawson Lady Cardinals Junior Varsity Softball team beat the Chillicothe Lady Hornets JV 7-2 in Chillicothe.
Katelynn Fleener pitched the full game with three strike outs. The offense was led by Bre Pithan and Kirsten Dunn both with triples, which Dunn also getting a double.
