City Council Approves Funding And Bid For New Police Cars

Chillicothe City Council took action to purchase five new police vehicles at Monday’s meeting.

The council first approved the expenditure of up to $250,000 for the vehicles and needed equipment from the Capital Improvement Fund.

The council then considered the two bids presented and awarded Chillicothe Ford with the bid to purchase five All Wheel Drive vehicles for $36,864 each or $184,323.  They also allowed for trade-in on four vehicles totaling $15,450.

Chief Jon Maples told the council they will have to purchase some equipment that will not transfer to the new vehicles.

The City plans to go out to bid for the equipment very soon.
