The official rainfall total since Friday morning was 2.79 inches, but there were reports from around the listening area of as much as six inches. The heavy rains caused flash flooding and are causing flooding on the Thompson and Grand Rivers.
For the Thompson River, flood stage is 27 feet and the river crested at 31.33 feet. Flooding is expected to continue into the afternoon.
On the Grand River, Flood warnings are issued from Pattonsburg to Brunswick.
At Pattonsburg, major flooding is occurring as the river is at 32.09 feet. The river continues to rise to an expected crest of 33.2 feet early Tuesday morning. The levels are expected to drop back below flood stage of 25 feet Tuesday evening and then rise again to minor flooding Thursday and Friday.
At Gallatin, there is minor flooding as the river is at 31.62 feet at midday that should be near the crest. The river will slowly fall below flood stage o 24 feet Wednesday morning and then rise again Thursday, with minor flooding into Friday.
At Chillicothe, Moderate flooding is occurring, with a reading of 33.15 feet at mid day and a crest forecast at 34.9 feet holding for several hours before falling to about 26 feet Wednesday and rising again to nearly 34 feet Thursday and flooding continuing into the weekend. Flood stage at Chillicothe is 24 feet.
At Sumner, flood stage is 26 feet and moderate flooding is occurring. The reading at midday was 34.6 feet as the river slowly rises to a crest Tuesday afternoon at 37.1 feet. The river will hold near that level into the weekend.
At Brunswick, Minor flooding is occurring as the river was at 22.5 feet this morning and the river is expected to slowly rise towards a crest of 29.8 feet Saturday morning and flooding continuing through the weekend.
