The Chillicothe Lady Hornets softball team lost on the road to the Penney High of Hamilton girls 4 to 1.
Chillicothe’s bats were silent in the game, with a double from Lexi Walker, two singles for Sophia Luetticke and one for Abby Jones. The Lady Hornets suffered with 16 strike outs at the plate for the seven innings game.
Penney scored two runs in the bottom of the first. Chillicothe closed the gap with one run in the third but Penney scored twice more in the fifth for the win.
Pitching for Chillicothe was Kinlei Boley with the start and Halle Rucker in relief. The two combined to allow four earned runs off nine hits with one strike out and no walks. Rucker was credited with the loss.
