General Manager of Chillicothe Municipal Utilities, Jim Gillilan was recently honored with the Dan A. Watkins- Gary L. Whorton Personal Service Award. The award, presented by the Missouri Public Utility Alliance (MPUA), recognizes an individual with a utility in the Alliance who has actively participated in the Alliance for at least 5 years, and whose special public or community service has been a credit to public utilities.
Duncan Kincheloe, President and General Manager of MPUA says “Jim Gillilan is highly deserving of this year’s MPUA award for community service. For more than four decades, Jim’s range of experience, wealth of knowledge and long dedication to the community have been instrumental in making CMU the tremendous asset it is to the people of Chillicothe.”
Gillilan has been General Manager of Chillicothe Municipal Utilities since 2010, and has worked for 41 years at CMU. He began his utility career as a meter reader when he was 18 years old and working his way up in the organization.
Gillilan’s public and community service work includes involvement on Chillicothe’s Economic Development Committee, and he has been active in Rotary Club, and the Elks. He has coached youth soccer, basketball, and baseball, and supports many causes and projects in Chillicothe.
