Selecting the perfect costume for your child’s Halloween trick-or-treating should be more than just the character… Safety needs to be a consideration when selecting or creating the costume. Richard Beard of Utah State University Extension says ready-made costumes offer many advantages
Beard says you need to think ahead and plan for possible weather. If your child is bundled up under the costume, it could affect their ability to see. Masks can also cause visibility issues, and when possible, make-up should be used as an alternative.
He says parents should accompany younger children.
As you are making your plans for Halloween, keep safety at the top of the list.
