A mobile home fire on LIV 228, northwest of Chillicothe near the Thompson River, proved deadly Friday night. The Chillicothe Fire Department received the call about 9:05 pm and arrived 11 minutes later to find the single wide mobile home fully involved. The Chula Fire Department was called for mutual aid, including a water tanker.
A neighbor stated they were unsure if the homeowner, Joseph Lawson, was home at the time.
Firefighters extinguished the fire and began to investigate and found human remains, The State Fire Marshall Investigators were requested to report to the scene. The cause of the fire and the identification of the human remains are still under investigation by the State Fire Marshall. The County Coroner responded to the scene and took the remains. The investigation is ongoing.
The fire crew was on the scene for about three hours and twenty minutes.
