The Livingston County Sheriff’s Department began an investigation of a scam reported Monday. A local senior citizen was contacted multiple times and fell for the scam, resulting in a loss of $19,000. The victim had been told they won the Publishers Clearing House Money and a new vehicle. The victim sent money three times.
Sheriff Steve Cox says the victim is a very sweet, kind and wonderful person. Unfortunately, there are many criminals who will take advantage of anyone and could care less about what happens to their victims!
The victim’s family has since been involved. There is very little chance the victim will see any of their money returned.
Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!
