Sewell’s Big Night Leads Hornets

The Chillicothe Hornets had no problems downing Kansas City Southeast 61-12 in the District opening game.
Chillicothe scored three touchdowns in the first quarter in a 41 yard pass from Kam Ward to Colten Sewell, a 4 yard run from Isaih Kille and a 1 yard run by Jaden Winder.
A fumble recover by Southeast led to their first score on an 8 yard pass. Chillicothe responded with three more touchdowns with Ward scoring from 1 yard out, then on a 7 yard run with 8 seconds left.
Jamacin Carr’s kick off took a high bounce near the sideline and was recovered by the Hornets. Two plays later Winder hit Sewell for a 37 yard touchdown, scoring 14 points in 8 seconds.
Southeast scored on an 80 yard drive in the third quarter but the Hornets answered in the fourth with touchdowns from Brock Gott from 1 yard out, Gage Leamer from 13 yards and a Colten Sewell pick six from 51 yards away, one of two interceptions by Sewell in the game.
Unofficially Chillicothe had 312 yards rushing and 102 yards passing. Southeast was held to 25 carries for 0 yards and 10 of 24 for 135 yards passing.
