The Chillicothe 8th Grade basketball teams split their season opening games against Savannah.
The 8th Grade Girls won 29-20. Madison Albaugh had 12 points to lead the Middle School Lady Hornets, Jolie Bonderer had 6, Kayanna Cranmer with 5, Izzy Garr 4 and Maci Johnson with 2.
Getting playing time were Emily Shipers, Emily Schreiner, Hadley Beemer, Rylee Washburn and Halie Gault.
The 8th grade boys didn’t fair as well, losing to Savannah 47-4. The Savages were up 8-2 after the first quarter with Hagan Atchison scoring for Chillicothe. Savannah went on a 22-0 run in the 2nd quarter off a press, and outscored the Hornets 8th grade boys 8-0 in the third quarter.
Chillicothe’s other basket came from Jadon Collins in the fourth quarter.
Seven other Hornets played but did not score while four others have not yet had enough practices to play, according to Coach Doug French.
