Things went bad early for the Chillicothe Hornets football team and didn’t improve in a 49-7 District championship loss at Savannah.
Chillicothe started the game on offense. Savannah’s defense stopped the Hornets and on the 4th play of the game, a Hornets punt turned into a 60 yard punt return touchdown for Savannah.
On the Hornet’s next possession a fumble was scooped up by Savannah and returned for a 55 yard touchdown. Savannah led 14-0 before their offense ever stepped onto the field.
An interception set up the next Savannah score four plays later on a 10 yard run.
A touchdown on the first play of the second quarter made it 28-0 Savannah. The drive was set up by another Savages interception.
A 35 yard scoop and score made it 34-0 at halftime. Chillicothe was on the 1 yard line when the first half ended.
The second half kick off was more of the same, returned by Savannah for a 65 yard touchdown. Savannah scored on two more touchdown passes before Chillicothe got in to the end zone late in the game on a 34 yard run by Deon Reynolds.
