A four-vehicle accident in Carroll County Friday afternoon took the life of a Hannibal man. State Troopers report 57-year-old Bradley Griggs of Hannibal died at the scene of the accident that happened about 2:55 pm on US 24 at Highway 10. According to the report, Griggs was southbound and driving a small pick-up. He failed to slow for traffic in a construction zone and died when he struck the rear of a vehicle driven by 46-year-old Candice Southers of Illinois. Southers had moderate injuries and was taken to Carroll County Memorial Hospital for treatment. The impact caused a chain reaction that resulted in two other vehicles with damage, but the drivers were not injured.
Griggs was not wearing a safety belt.
