There are six days before Thanksgiving, do you know where your turkey is? If it is frozen, experts from Butterball tell us it will take one day for every four pounds. Nicole Johnson says now is the time to get the bird out of the freezer.
Johnson says if you forget to get the bird out until next Wednesday, or if you just don’t have room in the fridge, you can thaw the bird with the cold water method.
That method requires having the bird still in the plastic wrapper, in a bucket or other container where it can be submerged in cold water. Change the water every 30 minutes until the bird is thawed.
If you have thawed the bird in the fridge and Thanksgiving day you find it is still a little frozen in the inside. Run some cold water through the cavity to complete the thawing, until you are able to easily able to remove the giblet pouch.
