The Health Insurance for the City of Chillicothe is due for renewal at the first of the year, but the proposals received by the city have been much higher than the current rate, nearly a 50% increase. City Administrator Darin Chappell says they are looking at alternatives to traditional insurance, including a form of self-insurance.
Chappell says this would actually cost the city less than the current policy.
He says there is risk.
Decisions on health insurance will need to be made by the end of December.
