A Social Media situation was recently handled by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department. A investigation began earlier in November when a rural Livingston County resident reported an adult male contacted her on social media and sent what was called “a very personal photo” that was unsolicited, unwanted and unappreciated, as the victim’s child was also present when the image came through. The suspect is a Trenton resident whom admitted to doing this twice, once by mistake, and is reportedly on probation for a different criminal violation.
The report is being submitted to the prosecuting attorney for consideration of charges.
The Sheriff’s Department investigated an identity theft and fraud. A county resident reported being contacted by a debt collection agency. An investigation found a loan had been taken out, most likely from on line, and deposited into an account in another state.
The victim was advised on steps to protect her identity, and authorities are working with the fraud unit.
