The Chillicothe Hornet Boys Basketball team went on a 9-0 run in the first quarter and went on to beat Platte County 61-42 in the Savannah Tournament.
The run gave Chillicothe an 8 point lead and they led the rest of the game, by as many as 25 points.
Hornets Coach Tim Cool stated he was very proud of how his team bounced back after a loss on Monday in the Tournament.
The win was big enough in pool play to vault the Hornets to the championship game against Benton on Saturday at 3:00pm in Savannah. Benton downed Maryville in the semi-finals.
For the Hornets, Wes Brandsgaard had 19 points at half and finished with 28 points. C. J. Pfaff had 11 points, Bradley Riley with 10, Mason Baxter with 6, Hayden Simmer with 4 and Griff Bonderer with 2. Receiving playing time was Cayden Potter, Joseph Tullos and Wyatt Brandsgaard.
