The Livingston County Commissioners will begin working on the 2020 budget on January 2nd. Presiding Commissioner Ed Douglas says they will be meeting nearly every weekday for the first few weeks to complete the budget process before public hearings are held and they approve the final budget.
Douglas says legislation approved by the state in 2019 will have an effect on the county’s budget for housing detainees at the Daviess Dekalb Regional Jail.
Douglas says they will work with the legislature this year to get that funding back in place.
Douglas says there are three elections scheduled in 2020 and that will add to their budget.
KCHI should have the schedule for the first budget meetings for the Livingston County Commission beginning sometime next week.
