Livingston County Sheriff’s Department – End Of Year Report (Part1)

The End of Year report for the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department shows the number of incident reports in 2019 is up from the year before, but numbers for other categories are down.  Sheriff Steve Cox says in 2019 the department was authorized a maximum strength of the sheriff plus 8 full-time road deputies and 1 full-time deputy assigned to Courthouse security as required. The department also has a part-time on-call detention/transport officer who aids both our office and occasionally the Chillicothe Police with transports to jail/prison and in extraditions.

For the road patrol, Cox says the numbers were both up and down.

There were 761 Incident Reports, up from 613 in 2018.  Arrests totaled 239, up from 202 the year before.  Traffic Stops were down slightly, with 1401 in 2019 and 1427 in 2018 and citations dropped dramatically, with 422, down from 521 in 2018.

The County’s average Daily Population, number of prisoners, at the Daviess Dekalb Regional Jail in 2019 was 33, which is down from 2018.   Cox says the cost to board prisoners increased at the start of 2019 and that resulted in an increase of nearly $45,000 from the previous year, but medical costs were down about $500.
