High Speed Chase Starts In Livingston County & Ends In Clinton County

An incident that began Sunday morning in Livingston County ended in Clinton County with two arrests.  Livingston County Sheriff Steve Cox reported troopers had stopped a vehicle in Livingston County at about 9:50 am and the occupants were uncooperative and fled into Chillicothe.  The vehicle eluded the Chillicothe Police Department and took off westbound on US 36.  The report states speeds were very high and the suspect vehicle was dodging officers to avoid spike strips.  Livingston County dropped their pursuit as they approached Cameron, but the vehicle headed south on Interstate 35 and was soon chased by Clinton County deputies

The Clinton County Sheriff reported speeds at times were over 100 miles per hour and the vehicle had crossed onto the northbound lanes, towards oncoming traffic.  The driver returned to the southbound lane and the sheriff stated speeds were near 150 miles an hour.  The vehicle exited the interstate at Highway 116 and was passing cars on hills and speeds were again near 120.

This pursuit continued through Lathrop and into Plattsburg where the Sheriff Fish performed a PIT maneuver and the chase ended.

Deputies recovered firearms and narcotics in the vehicle along with items for the distribution of narcotics.  Both occupants of the vehicle were taken to the Clinton County Detention Center.
