St Joseph Lafayette started fast on their home gym floor and handed Chillicothe their fourth loss of the season and their first MEC loss 65-48.
Lafayette jumped out to a 22-9 lead after one and a 41-21 lead at halftime.
Chillicothe was led by C J Pfaff with 19 points, Westley Brandsgaard with 17, Hayden Simmer with 6, Bradley Riley with 4, Mason Baxter with 2 and playing time for Griff Bonderer.
With the MEC win, Lafayette only needs to beat St Pius X on the road to win the MEC Boys Basketball Title.
If Chillicothe can beat Cameron on Friday at home the Hornets would finish 2nd in the MEC.
Lafayette won the JV contest 56-25. Chillicothe was led by Wyatt Brandsgaard with 10,Landon Winder with 5, Quentin Cranmer and Cayden Potter each with 4 and Jackson Reeter with 2.
Lafayette made it a clean sweep with a 64-15 win over the Chillicothe C-team.
Chillicothe had four points from Carson Steele, Three from Gabe Hansen and two each from Isaiah Spring, Jackson Reeter, Landon Winder and Quinten Cranmer.
