Two area drivers had moderate injuries in separate accidents Tuesday. The Highway Patrol investigated the accident.
A single-vehicle accident in Carroll County at about 11:30 left a woman from Hale injured. Sixty-nine-year-old Betty Fleener of Hale was westbound on Route J, near County Road 311, when she swerved to avoid an animal, she ran off the left side of the road and hit the ditch. She was taken to Carroll County Memorial Hospital for treatment.
In Randolph County at about 3:00 pm, a two-vehicle accident left a Salisbury man injured. The report states 57-year-old Richard Shomaker was taken to Moberly Regional Hospital following the accident on Route JJ near Huntsville. According to the report, Shomaker was westbound and was struck from behind by a vehicle driven by 18-year-old Kameron Smothers of Moberly, while Shomaker was making a left turn. Smothers was not injured.
