At the High School Basketball Championships in Springfield, Walnut Grove girls picked up another Class 1 State Championship with a 52 to 41 win over Platte Valley, which is South Nodaway and Jefferson High Schools.
The Dora boys team won the Boys Class 1 title with a 59 – 49 win over St Elizabeth.
The third place games were not played.
Finals today in Springfield include in Class 2 girls East Buchanan against Tipton and on the boys side it will be Skyline against Hartville, which beat Milan in the semi-finals
In Class 3 girls it is Licking, which beat Macon, against Strafford. In Class 3 Boys it’s Charleston, which beat Monroe City, against the winner of Cardinal Ritter and Blair Oaks.
In Class 4 and 5, quarterfinal games will be played around Missouri. Class 4 boys games include St Joseph Lafayette against Raytown South and Kirksville, which lost to Chillicothe in the regular season, against St Louis Vashon.
