The Missouri FFA Association awarded Chillicothe FFA a Gold Emblem, a Top Chapter Award. Only 10 percent of state chapters receive a top chapter designation each year.
The National Chapter Award Program is designed to recognize FFA chapters that actively implement the mission and strategies of the organization. These chapters improve chapter operations using the National Quality Chapter Standards and a Program of Activities that emphasize growing leaders, building communities and strengthening agriculture. Chapters are rewarded for providing educational experiences for the entire membership. The Chillicothe FFA advisors are Leda Schreiner, Lance Martin, Randy Plattner and Neal Wolf.
The award is an indicator that Chillicothe FFA is growing leaders through a variety of activities. Members conducted school farm tours for local, state and national groups. Through this event, students communicated the importance of supervised agricultural experience programs.
Building Communities activities included the Warm Fuzzies. Chapter members, alumni and community members came together and made 80 fleece blankets to donate to Children’s Mercy Hospital along with a monetary donation collected from the community.
The top chapters compete for the National FFA Chapter Award. Those winners will be announced at the 93rd National FFA Convention & Expo in Indianapolis.
