The Livingston County Sheriff’s Department handled several investigations since the middle of April. They include:
April 15 LCSO began an investigation on sex offender registration violation. The suspect was located near his home and fled on foot when he saw the deputy. A short foot chase ended with the suspect having tossed a digital scale and in possession of nearly $2,000 cash. Linn County Sheriff Henke was summoned with his K-9 but no drugs were located. A report is being submitted to the prosecuting attorney for consideration.
April 15 a property damage investigation to a cemetery in the western part of Livingston County. Horses owned by the person that had been residing there had allegedly roamed the cemetery and caused significant property damage. The horse owner has moved and when located reported he would get the damages repaired.
April 20, several agencies and emergency services responded to an address on Highway F, south of Dawn, for a reported Domestic Violence incident where multiple people were assaulted, one may be having a heart attack, one person was reportedly stabbed and had broken bone(s). Investigation shows no evidence of any stabbing, some people had left the scene before officers arrived. All persons have been interviewed with some being less than cooperative. A report was sent to the prosecutor and juvenile office.
A drug investigation in Wheeling was completed and criminal charges are sought on an adult for alleged Possession of Methamphetamine and Prescription Controlled Medications. The suspect had allegedly been distributing the controlled substances.
April 23, theft of timber from a location near Dawn was investigated. The victim reported the theft of several walnut trees.
April 24, deputies investigated a death at a home in the Utica area. A preliminary investigation suggests the elderly person passed of natural causes.
