A Flash Flood Watch has been issued for a large portion of Missouri, starting tonight and continuing into early Friday morning, The National Weather Service says heavy rain is possible overnight, with two to three inches of rain as the storm systems move through the area in a short period of time.
Motorists should be aware of the possibility of standing or moving water on the roadways. Local creeks and streams may also rise above their banks, causing localized flooding of roads and other low lying areas.
If you are driving and see flooded roads, “Turn Around, Don’t Drown!” Find another route. Vehicles driving through flooded roadways can be washed off the road by just a few inches of moving water.
