A Kirksville woman was arrested Friday on charges of alleged first and second-degree murder, first and second-degree involuntary manslaughter, and abuse or neglect of a child resulting in death. The charges are the result of an investigation of the death of a newborn child that allegedly drowned in a toilet after the woman gave birth in the restroom of a business in Milan on May 6th. Twenty-eight-year-old Makuya Stephanie Kambamba of Kirksville was arrested Friday, processed at the Sullivan County Sheriff’s office and transported to the Daviess Dekalb Regional Jail, where she is held with no bond allowed. She is scheduled for arraignment on Monday.
