The Memorial Day weekend is the traditional start to the summer season and even though this is not a typical year, the Missouri Highway Patrol expects it will still be a busy travel and gathering weekend.
That is Sargent Jake Angle from the Highway Patrol. He says lately they have seen a sharp increase in speeding violations.
Angle says the use of alcohol is also something they discourage if you plan to get behind the wheel.
If you see or suspect violations, you can call the Highway Patrol at *55. You will be connected to the nearest Highway Patrol headquarters and they will get someone out to handle that situation. Angle says if it is an emergency, dial 911.
