Every season, the Missouri Track and Cross Country Coaches Association recognizes its Academic All-State team. To be eligible in years past, athletes needed to maintain a 3.6 GPA or score a 25 or higher on the ACT. They also needed to compete in the District, Sectional, or State meet.
With the cancellation of spring athletics this year due to Covid-19, Hornets Boys Track Coach Bill Shaffer says the Association has decided to continue honoring athletes for their work in the classroom and waive the competition portion of qualifying for Academic All-State.
As a result, 39 members of the Chillicothe Track & Field team have been named to the MTCCCA Academic All-State team.
Those Chillicothe athletes are: Lydia Anderson, Aliyah Briner, Cami Carpenter, Kennedy Corzette, Kaylynn Cranmer, Anderson DeJesus, Christina DeJesus, Kirsten Dunn, Madeline Ellis, Isabella Englert, Porter Ficken, Brianna Foli, Gavin Funk, Montana Hall, Hope Helton, Jordan Hibner, Luke Hopper, Karyna Ireland, Braxten Johnson, Clara Leamer, Ella Leamer, Cesar Mares, Danielle Martin, Delaney May, Kaleb Mullikin, Clairissa Nivens, Emmalee O’Dell, CJ Pfaff, Isaak Rasche, Josie Reeter, Maria Rodriguez, Gena Schuler, Kadence Shipers, Maya Snyder, Katelyn Sullivan, Trey Tipton, Trista Tipton, Isaac Washburn, and Emily Wilford.
