Helping Kids Arrive At School Safe And Healthy

In a typical school year, the Chillicothe R-II School District transports from 1,100 to 1,300 students per day.  Assistant Superintendent Dr Zach McMains says at this point, the number of riders will be much smaller when the school year starts.

Dr McMains says due to COVID-19, they are taking measures to keep the students safe and healthy.

That is about ½ to 1/3 of the capacity for a typical school bus.

He says they will be doing extra cleaning.

The drivers will also be wearing masks and/or shields.  He says the drivers are concerned but are also dedicated to ensuring the students get to school for their education.
