Flat Tire Leads To Arrests

A flat tire led to two arrests for alleged theft of vehicles in other counties.  The Livingston County Sheriff’s Department, Chillicothe Police Department and the Missouri Highway Patrol recently responded to the sighting of a stolen pick-up at a business in the southern part of Chillicothe.  The officers arrived to find a pick-up with a flat tire and an individual working to change the tire.  When the suspect noticed the officers he climbed into the truck and refused to comply with multiple requests to show himself and his hands.  That suspect was finally removed from the vehicle at gunpoint.  A second newer pickup was parked behind the stolen vehicle and officers learned a second suspect had gone out the front door of the business and was stopped by Chillicothe Police Officers.   As apart of the investigation, they learned of a 3rd pickup that had been stolen earlier in Carroll County and involved in an accident and left the scene.
Officers arrested 36-year-old Nicholas Glen Newton of St. Joseph for alleged Tampering with Motor Vehicle and Possession of Methamphetamine and 33-year-old Ron Michael Harris of St. Joseph on a Parole Warrant ( he had been out of prison 3 days at the time of the arrest.)  He was also arrested on 2 counts Tampering with Motor Vehicle and Possession of Controlled Substances.
